Forward Folding Yin: Weekend Workout! 6-17-17

Since all the yoga poses that I’ve demonstrated this month are forward folding, we will do a forward folding practice. With extra heat and humidity in the air, a yin practice seems like a good idea. Here is a forward folding yin practice for you.

This can be done at any time, in any season, but stretching is always best in the summer months when heat and humidity make the body more supple.

The Yang names of the poses we do in this workout are Janushirsasana, Paschimottanasana, Upavistha Konasana, a modification of Ardha Matsyendrasana, Jathara Parivartanasana, and Savasana. As you may be aware, the Yin names are in English and often involve an image, such as Straddle (which is Upavistha Konasana).
